제이슨 워커의 서사적 조각은 자신이 직접 경험한 실제 삶의 사건과 장소에서 출발합니다. 작가는 우리가 몸을 통해 겪는 경험이 유한한 존재로서의 취약함을 어떻게 드러내는지, 그리고 인간 역시 자연이라고 부르는 하나의 생태계에 속한 존재임을 어떻게 일깨우는지 이야기하고자 합니다.
오늘날의 문화는 기술을 통해 만들어진 시뮬레이션과 매개된 경험을 끊임없이 제공하며, 때로는 우리가 육체로부터 벗어날 수 있는 것처럼 느끼게 합니다. 그러나 작가는 오히려 우리를 서로에게, 그리고 자연에 이어주는 것이 바로 육체성이라고 봅니다. 아무리 기술이 발전하더라도 인간이 몸을 지닌 존재이며 자연의 일부라는 사실은 바뀌지 않는다는 것입니다.
결국 이 작업이 바라보는 것은 인간과 자연의 관계입니다. 우리가 자연을 어떤 방식으로 인식하고 대하는가는 결국 인간 자신을 어떻게 이해하고 있는지를 보여줍니다. 작가는 이를 통해 기술이 지배적인 오늘날, 몸을 지닌 존재로 살아간다는 것이 무엇인지, 그리고 인간이라는 존재를 다시 어떻게 바라볼 수 있는지를 질문합니다.

Jason Walker's narrative sculptures grow out of real events and places he has personally lived through. He wants to speak to how the experiences we undergo through our bodies reveal our vulnerability as finite beings, and how they remind us that humans, too, belong to the ecosystem we call nature.
Today's culture constantly offers simulations and mediated experiences made possible by technology, at times making us feel we can step outside our own bodies. But he sees physicality as precisely what connects us to one another, and to nature. However far technology advances, the fact that humans are embodied beings and part of nature does not change.
Ultimately, what this work looks at is the relationship between humans and nature. How we perceive and treat nature, in the end, reveals how we understand ourselves. Through this, he asks what it means to live as an embodied being today, in an age dominated by technology, and how we might look at human existence anew.
