이은영 KOR 0:00 / 0:00 ENG 0:00 / 0:00 이은영 <메타-바이오스피어>, 2026 점토, 러스터, 유목, 양모실, 소다, 손성형, 가압성형, 니팅, 코일링, 영상, 800~1240℃, 240 x 160 x 180cm. 《메타-바이오스피어》는 에너지가 한곳에 머물거나 다른 존재로 이동하는 과정을 하나의 비선형적 생태계로 풀어낸 설치 작품입니다. 작업은 1991년에 시작된 인공 생태계 실험 ‘바이오스피어 2’에서 출발합니다. 완전한 자급과 순환을 목표로 했던 이 실험은 내부의 에너지 흐름이 원활하게 유지되지 못하고 산소가 부족해지면서 한계를 드러냈습니다. 이은영 작가는 이 ‘닫힌 낙원’의 실패를 바라보며 질문합니다. 외부와 단절된 시스템 안에서 에너지가 더 이상 흐르지 못한다면, 왜 그 끝은 생존이 아니라 소멸로 향하게 되는가. 이 질문을 바탕으로 작가는 에너지가 형태 안에 머물며 굳어지는 ‘고착’과, 기존 형태를 벗어나 다른 존재와 접속하며 이동하는 ‘전이’를 하나의 생태계 안에 펼쳐 보입니다. 전시 공간은 정삼각형의 구조로 이루어지며, 관람객은 세 변을 따라 놓인 ‘늪’, ‘고치’, ‘뼈의 나무’를 지나며 에너지의 이동과 순환을 따라가게 됩니다. The work takes as its starting point "Biosphere 2," an artificial-ecosystem experiment begun in 1991. Aiming for complete self-sufficiency and circulation, the experiment revealed its limits when internal energy flow failed to stay stable and oxygen levels dropped. Wang Ley looks at the failure of this "closed paradise" and asks: if energy inside a system cut off from the outside world can no longer flow, why does its ending lead to extinction rather than survival? Building on this question, she unfolds, within a single ecosystem, both "fixation"—where energy stays within a form and hardens—and "transition"—where energy breaks free of its existing form to connect with, and move toward, other beings. The exhibition space is structured as an equilateral triangle, and visitors follow the movement and circulation of energy as they pass the "swamp," "cocoon," and "tree of bones" arranged along its three sides.
