이인진 작가는 하루를 흙으로 시작해 흙으로 끝맺으며, 오랜 시간 흙과 함께하는 삶과 작업을 이어오고 있습니다. 물레성형을 중심으로 기(器)를 제작하며, 시간과 환경에 따라 변화하는 흙과 유약의 성질, 쓰임과 형태를 끊임없이 탐구합니다. 작업실에서 흙을 만지고 텃밭을 가꾸며 자연과 교감하는 일상은 작가의 작업을 이루는 중요한 바탕이 됩니다. 오랜 경험 속에서도 흙을 새롭게 배우고 탐색하며, 흙이 주는 흥미와 설렘을 자신만의 조형 언어로 이어가고 있습니다. 작가에게 흙 작업은 완성된 방식을 반복하는 일이 아니라 변화하는 재료와 시대 속에서 끊임없이 배우는 과정이며, 이러한 태도는 물레로 빚은 기물의 형태와 흙의 자연스러운 표면을 통해 드러납니다.

Inchin Lee begins and ends each day with clay, sustaining a life and practice that have long revolved around the material. Primarily creating vessels on the potter’s wheel, he explores the properties of clay and glaze, the functions and forms of vessels, and how they change over time and in response to the environment.
His daily life—working with clay in his studio, tending his vegetable garden, and engaging closely with nature—underpins his practice. Even after many years of experience, he continues to learn from and explore clay, translating the fascination and excitement it offers into his own visual language. For him, working with clay is not a matter of repeating an established method, but an ongoing process of learning amid changing materials and times. This attitude is reflected in the forms of his wheel-thrown vessels and the natural surfaces of the clay.
