서문 KOR 0:00 / 0:00 ENG 0:00 / 0:00 《낯선 전통》은 청자와 백자로 대표되는 익숙한 한국 도자의 이미지에서 벗어나, 우리 도자사 속에 존재해왔지만 상대적으로 덜 주목받아온 전통을 새롭게 바라보는 전시입니다. 이번 전시는 미술시장 연계 특별전으로 문화 콘텐츠 기업 ‘디자인하우스’와 협력하여, 경기생활도자미술관과 서울 북촌의 갤러리 지우헌 두 공간에서 동시에 개최됩니다. 토기, 흑유자기, 옹기, 철화분청 등 서로 다른 전통적 재료와 기법에서 출발한 원로·중견·신진 세대 여섯 작가는 흙의 물성과 기형, 제작기법을 자신만의 조형 언어와 감각으로 재해석합니다. 옛것을 그대로 재현하기보다 전통적인 재료와 기법을 바탕으로 고유한 작품 세계를 펼쳐내며, 한국 도자의 폭넓은 스펙트럼과 동시대적 가능성을 보여줍니다. 이번 전시를 통해 익숙함 속에 가려져 있던 한국 도자의 다양한 면모를 다시 발견하고, 오랜 시간 이어져 온 전통이 오늘의 도자예술로 새롭게 확장되는 모습을 만나보시길 바랍니다. Tradition, Revisited moves beyond the familiar image of Korean ceramics represented by celadon and white porcelain to take a fresh look at traditions that have long existed within the history of Korean ceramics but have received relatively less attention. Organized as a special exhibition linked to the art market, the exhibition is held in collaboration with Designhouse, a cultural content company. It takes place simultaneously at two venues: the Gyeonggi Museum of Ceramic Design and Gallery Jiwooheon in Bukchon, Seoul. Six senior, established, and emerging ceramists, working with different traditional materials and techniques—including earthenware, black-glazed ceramics, onggi, and buncheong with underglaze iron-brown decoration—reinterpret the properties of clay, vessel forms, and pottery-making techniques through their own visual languages and sensibilities. Rather than simply reproducing the ceramics of the past, they develop distinctive bodies of work rooted in traditional materials and techniques, demonstrating the broad spectrum of Korean ceramics and its contemporary possibilities. Through this exhibition, we invite you to rediscover the diverse dimensions of Korean ceramics that have been hidden by familiarity and to experience how traditions carried forward over time are finding new expression and expanding into the ceramic art of today.
