<선과 악의 큰 그릇>은 인간과 자연, 선과 악의 관계를 우화적으로 풀어낸 서사적 도자입니다. 중앙의 나무를 중심으로 좌우의 존재들이 대립하는 구성으로 작품의 표면에는 소금유약​이 사용되어 거칠고 불규칙한 질감을 만들어내고 있습니다. 회청색의 유약과 미세하게 갈라진 표면은 새겨진 동물과 나무의 선을 감싸며 오래된 벽화와 같은 깊이와 시간성을 부여합니다. 브리짓 비요르슨은 유약의 우연적인 표면 효과와 섬세한 선묘를 결합하여 그릇의 곡면 전체를 하나의 이야기 공간으로 변화시킵니다. 기능적인 그릇의 형식과 서사적인 장식, 소금유약의 독특한 물성이 결합되어 인간 사회의 갈등과 폭력에 대한 작가의 성찰을 담아내고 있습니다.

Big Bowl, The Good and The Evil is a narrative ceramic work that allegorically explores the relationship between humanity and nature, as well as the opposing forces of good and evil. Centered around a tree, the composition presents figures on either side in a state of confrontation. The surface is treated with salt glaze, creating a rough and irregular texture. Its blue-gray tones and finely cracked surface envelop the incised lines of animals and trees, lending the work a sense of depth and temporality reminiscent of an ancient mural. By combining the unpredictable effects of the glaze with delicate linear imagery, Birgitte Börjeson transforms the entire curved surface of the vessel into a space for storytelling. The functional form of the bowl, narrative imagery, and distinctive material qualities of the salt glaze come together to convey the artist’s reflection on conflict and violence within human society.
