The Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale 2026 presents a series of academic and workshop programs aligned with its theme, aiming to share the latest trends in ceramics and crafts while providing a platform for international exchange and collaborative networking among experts and participants from Korea and abroad.
Academic Programs: Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale 2026 Forum
The academic program is grounded in the theme of the 2026 Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale Earth Makes, and seeks to explore the sustainable future of ceramics from the perspective of nature. Moving beyond an anthropocentric viewpoint, it adopts a macroscopic lens that expands from “clay–earth–planet” to examine the potential of ceramics.
Within the framework of sustainable art, the program considers the interrelated dynamics of time, space, materiality, institutions, and thought as they shape interactions between humans and the environment. It further investigates the material expansion of “clay” in contemporary discourse, its coexistence with nature, and extends the discussion to encompass future social systems and technologies, in relation to ceramics.
Through this, we plan to expand contemporary discourse surrounding ceramics, ecology, technology, and community.
